About

Gabriel Kunu is a multidisciplinary artist and musician whose work exists at the intersection of sound, memory, and emotional survival. Born in Fairfax, Virginia, Gabriel gravitated toward music at a young age, first experimenting on his father’s electric piano before developing a lifelong connection to synthesizers and vocal expression. From early disco-inspired compositions to evolving ambient and vaporwave soundscapes, music became his primary form of communication. Growing up, Gabriel experienced deep isolation and loss, shaping his artistic voice and emotional perspective. Rather than retreating from the world, he turned inward—creating art that reflects solitude without bitterness, sadness without despair, and hope without denial. His music often feels like wandering through forgotten spaces still alive with sound: abandoned malls, quiet city corners, late-night rooms filled with reverb and memory. In addition to music, Gabriel works across visual art and fashion. He paints in modern, expressive styles inspired by artists like Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat, while also designing custom garments by deconstructing and rebuilding thrifted clothing. His curiosity extends to the technical side of creation, from learning synthesizer circuitry to studying materials and construction. Professionally, Gabriel works remotely in communications and digital services, supporting healthcare organizations while managing social anxiety in ways that allow him to remain productive and independent. He has also contributed to community efforts, volunteering with food pantries, AA and NA meetings, and organizations supporting unhoused individuals. Gabriel’s creative philosophy is rooted in sincerity. He creates not to impress, but to exist truthfully. His art speaks to those who feel disconnected, misunderstood, or searching for peace. Whether through music, performance, or quiet acts of kindness, Gabriel continues moving forward—sharing love, honoring memory, and leaving space for others to feel less alone.
